About us
The careful scribe for everything you record.
To turn the recordings people already have into text they can check, edit and use, without counting minutes.

Rachmat Tamara, founder
Scribes used to sit at the edge of every important conversation, writing down what mattered. Scribewren is that scribe, rebuilt for recordings: small, quick and careful. Drop in an interview, a lecture or a podcast and get back every word, who said it and what it meant, without counting minutes.
The name joins two old ideas. A scribe listens and writes down faithfully what was said. The wren is a tiny, quick songbird with a loud song for its size; in European folklore it is the king of the birds. I wanted a tool like that: attentive, and stronger than it looks.
I started Scribewren because of two problems. Per-minute pricing makes people ration their recordings. And people upload sensitive interviews without knowing where the files go or whether they will be used to train a model. Scribewren answers both with one flat price for Unlimited and plain rules for your data: originals are deleted within 24 hours of finishing, and your recordings and transcripts are never used for training.
Scribewren is built and run by one founder-developer. I build the whole stack, from the API and the web app to the transcription workers and the infrastructure, with AI-assisted development, and I have worked on it full time since October 2026. It is bootstrapped, with no outside investors. The company behind it, PT HARTA TAHTA KATA, was incorporated in Indonesia in October 2026.
Sign-ups opened on 27 October 2026, and on 5 November 2026 Scribewren opened to everyone. It is a young product, so the sections below say what it does today and which parts are still only plans.
Four things the product is built around.
An automatic transcript can contain mistakes, so the editor plays the audio in step with the text. Click a word to hear it, fix it and move on. Speakers are labelled and can be renamed.
Original files are deleted within 24 hours of finishing. Your recordings and transcripts are never used for training. Every vendor that processes your data is named on one page. Read the subprocessors list.
Unlimited has no per-minute billing. A fair-use limit applies and the pricing page states it. The Free plan stays free. See pricing.
A transcript is only useful once it is right. The editor is built for quick fixes: synced playback, click to seek, find in the transcript and keyboard shortcuts.
Scribewren is small, so the rules are short and written down.
Pages describe what the product does today. A plan is called a plan, and we do not name a date we cannot keep.
Retention, training and vendors are set out in plain words. A vendor is added to the list before it touches personal data, not after. Read the Privacy Policy.
Scribewren is AI-first in how it runs. An AI assistant answers support messages and says that it is an AI. A person decides refunds, legal questions and anything critical. Anything we publish that an AI wrote carries a label.
A first purchase of Unlimited has a money-back period, and the rules for renewals and cancellations fit on one page. Read the refund policy.
These are plans, not promises. They have no dates, and the order can change as we learn what people need.
