2. What a notice must contain

A notice under 17 U.S.C. section 512(c)(3) must include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature, or that of a person authorized to act for the rights owner;
  2. identification of the copyrighted work you say is infringed;
  3. identification of the material you say infringes, with enough detail for us to find it, such as a transcript ID or URL;
  4. your contact details: address, phone number and email;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent or the law;
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the owner.

3. What we do

We acknowledge a complete notice within 2 business days, disable access to the identified material, and tell the user who uploaded it, with a copy of the notice.

4. Counter-notice

If you believe material was removed by mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the agent above containing your signature, identification of the removed material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe in good faith it was removed by mistake or misidentification, your name, address and phone number, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts for your address (or, outside the United States, any judicial district). We forward it to the complainant and restore the material in 10 to 14 business days, unless the complainant tells us they have filed a court action.

5. Repeat infringers

We end the account of a user who receives 3 valid notices within 12 months.

6. Misrepresentation

Under section 512(f), anyone who knowingly misrepresents that material is infringing, or was removed by mistake, may be liable for damages.

7. Other complaints

Send other copyright complaints, and defamation or privacy complaints, to the same address, [email protected]. Takedown requests from Indonesian authorities are handled under our electronic system operator obligations.

8. Records

We keep notices and counter-notices for 3 years. See the Privacy Policy.
