What it does

The editor shows the transcript as segments, each with a speaker and a timestamp, next to a player. While the audio plays, the current word is highlighted and the view follows along. Click a word and playback jumps to it.

Fixing a transcript is mostly checking names, numbers and quotes. The editor is built for that: hear the word, correct the text, move on. Your changes save automatically, and the editor tells you when they are saved.

  • Click a word to play from that moment.
  • Edit text in place. Changes save a moment after you stop typing.
  • Rename speakers and move segments between speakers.
  • Find text in the transcript, ignoring capitals and accents.
  • Undo and redo your edits.
  • Change the playback speed, skip back and forward or use keyboard shortcuts.

How it works

  1. Open a finished transcript from your library.
  2. Press play, or click any word to start from there. The current word is highlighted as it plays.
  3. Click into a segment to correct the text. It saves on its own.
  4. Use Find to jump to a name or a number, and rename speakers from their labels.
  5. Export the transcript when it reads right.

Questions

Do my edits change the audio?

No. Edits change the text only. The recording is never altered.

What happens to the audio after the playback copy expires?

The transcript stays and you can still read and edit it. The player is switched off, because the playback copy has been deleted. Free keeps it for 7 days and Unlimited for 90 days.

Can two people edit a transcript together?

No. A transcript belongs to one account. If you open it in two tabs, the editor warns you when a segment changed in the other tab.

Can I rename a transcript in the editor?

No. The editor header shows the title, and you rename a transcript from your library.

Can I search inside a transcript?

Yes. Find matches text without regard to capitals or accents, counts the matches and steps through them. It searches the open transcript only.
