Privacy and retention
Original files are deleted within 24 hours of the transcription finishing. Playback copies are kept for a fixed time. Nothing you upload is used to train models.

What we keep and for how long
Scribewren keeps what you need to read and edit your transcript, and deletes the rest. The original upload goes first. The playback copy, which lets you listen while you edit, goes after a set time that depends on your plan. The transcript stays until you delete it.
Transcript text, note text, titles and original filenames are kept out of our logs, analytics and error reports. No staff role or admin tool shows your content. We look at private content only if you ask us to, for example for support, or if the law requires it.

- Transcripts, AI notes and translations: kept until you delete them or your account.

How retention works
- You upload a file. It goes straight from your browser to private storage using a link that expires.
- A copy of the audio goes to our speech-to-text provider to make the transcript. It works under Zero Data Retention and keeps nothing.
- When the transcription reaches a final state, the original upload is deleted within 24 hours.
- The playback copy stays for 7 days on Free or 90 days on Unlimited, then it is deleted. The transcript stays editable.
- Delete a transcript and it is gone for good. Deleted data leaves our backups as their 7-day window rolls forward.

Do you use my recordings to train AI?
No. Your recordings and transcripts are never used to train or fine-tune models.
Who can see my transcripts?
You can. No staff role or admin tool shows your content. We look at private content only if you ask us to, for example for support, or if the law requires it.
How do I delete everything?
Delete transcripts one by one from your library, or delete your account in Settings. Account deletion removes your content within 24 hours and your account record within 7 days.
Where does my audio go while it is processed?
A copy goes to our speech-to-text provider, xAI, under Zero Data Retention. The subprocessors page lists every vendor and what it receives.
Can I keep the audio longer?
The playback copy is kept 7 days on Free and 90 days on Unlimited. Export what you need, because the original upload is deleted within 24 hours and cannot be recovered.
