What it does
Scribewren turns the speech in an audio or video file into text. You upload the file, leave the language on Auto-detect or pick the spoken language, and the transcript appears in your library when it is ready. Every word has a timestamp, so you can click a word and hear it.
A transcript is a first draft. Background noise, strong accents and people talking over each other all cause mistakes, and no tool avoids them. Check names, numbers and quotes against the audio before you rely on them.
- Transcribes in 38+ languages, with the language detected for you or chosen in the upload box.
- Takes audio and video files of the common kinds, from MP3 and WAV to MP4 and MOV.
- Adds punctuation and capital letters, and a start and end time for every word.
- Shows the stage and progress of each file while it runs, so you do not have to refresh the page.
- Uploads go straight from your browser to storage, so large files do not pass through our servers.
How it works
- Drop an audio or video file into the upload box, or choose files from your device.
- Leave the language on Auto-detect, or pick the language that was spoken.
- Watch the progress in your library. A finished transcript opens in the editor.
- Click any word to hear it, fix what is wrong, then export the result.

Questions
Which languages can I transcribe?
Scribewren transcribes 38+ languages at launch. Choose the spoken language in the upload box, or leave it on Auto-detect. The formats and languages page lists every one.
What happens to a file that is longer than my plan allows?
Scribewren transcribes up to the limit for your plan, which is 30 minutes on Free and 10 hours on Unlimited, and the transcript says it was cut short. Nothing is rejected after the upload.
How accurate is the transcript?
It depends on the recording, so we do not quote a figure. Clear audio with one voice at a time gives the cleanest result. Noise, crosstalk and heavy accents give more mistakes, and the editor lets you check any word against the audio.
Do I need a card to try it?
No. Free includes 3 transcriptions a day and needs no card. Unlimited removes the daily cap and adds priority processing.
Does Scribewren keep my original file?
No. The original upload is deleted within 24 hours of the transcription finishing. The transcript stays until you delete it.
