Transcribe lectures
Upload a lecture recording and get a searchable transcript with timestamps, plus AI notes you can use to review the material.
How it works
- Record the lecture, with the instructor's permission, on a phone or recorder near the front.
- Upload the file and choose the language of the lecture.
- Search for a topic in the transcript and click a line to hear that part.
- Open the AI notes for a summary, then export your own edited version.
Sitting in a lecture hall, you can listen or you can take notes, and doing both well is hard. A recording lets you listen properly the first time and decide later which parts need a second look. With a transcript, that second look takes minutes: search for the term you missed, click the line, and hear exactly what was said.
The AI notes are a convenience layer on top. A summary of the lecture helps you decide whether a recording is worth rereading, and on Unlimited the chapters give you a rough map of the session. They are generated from the transcript, so they inherit its mistakes; when a definition or formula matters, check it against the slides or your textbook.
A study routine that works
Record, upload the same day, and skim the transcript while the lecture is still fresh. Highlight the parts you did not follow and listen to those. Over a term, a folder of dated transcripts becomes a searchable archive of everything you were taught.
Tips
- Sit near the front and place the recorder on the desk, not in a bag, so the lecturer is louder than the room.
- Ask for permission to record; many institutions require it.
- Use the transcript to find the part you missed, then listen to that section instead of replaying the whole class.
- Treat AI notes as a starting point and compare them with the slides before you rely on them for an exam.
Questions
What do the AI notes include?
Free includes a summary. Unlimited adds chapters and action items. The notes are generated from the transcript, so check them against your own.
Can I search across what was said?
Yes. Search the transcript for a term and jump to each place it appears in the recording.
How long can a lecture be?
Unlimited accepts files up to 10 hours. On Free, only the first 30 minutes of a longer file are transcribed.
How long can I replay the audio?
A playback copy is kept for 7 days on Free or 90 days on Unlimited. Export the transcript if you want to keep it longer.
Is it fine to record a lecture?
That depends on your school and the lecturer. Ask first and follow your institution's recording policy.
