Portuguese is a pluricentric language, and the recordings you bring will usually be one of two sounds: Brazilian or European. Brazilian speech tends to open its vowels and keeps a steady syllable rhythm, while European Portuguese reduces unstressed vowels so heavily that words can seem to lose their middles. Both are common in our uploads, and both can be transcribed in the same language setting.

Differences also show up on the page. Words like "ônibus" and "autocarro", or "você" and "tu", belong to different regions, and spelling still varies in a few cases. The transcript is a draft that you can edit, so pick your target variety and standardise afterwards.

Common recordings include church services, classroom lectures, business calls, interviews for documentary work and WhatsApp voice notes. Voice notes are short but can be noisy, and accuracy varies with audio quality, accents and background noise.

Use speaker labels to keep multi-person meetings readable. When the text is checked, export DOCX for sharing, SRT or VTT for subtitles, or TXT for your own tools. If you need another language, Unlimited includes translation.

Questions

Does it work for both Brazilian and European Portuguese?

Portuguese is spoken with quite different rhythm and vowels in Brazil and Portugal. Results vary with accent, audio quality and background noise, so test a clip from each speaker.

Will the transcript use Brazilian or Portuguese spelling?

Spelling follows the common written forms. You can edit words such as facto and fato in the editor to match the variety you want.

Can I transcribe a Portuguese sermon or church service?

Yes. Upload the recording, use speaker labels for preacher and congregation if needed, and export DOCX or SRT.

What about a mix of Portuguese and Spanish?

The languages are close, and speakers sometimes blend them, usually called portunhol. Transcribe such files in the main language and check the mixed parts.
